Our Mission

HVAC Mafia is an HVAC technician community built by techs, for techs. No corporate spin, and no gatekeeping. Just a real place for the people who run the calls, turn the wrenches, answer the phones, and keep this trade moving.

Why this HVAC technician community exists

Walk any trade show floor and you’ll hear the same questions. Where do I find honest advice? Who’s actually looking out for contractors? And who can I trust when everybody’s selling something?

There’s no shortage of information out there. But most of it comes from people who have never pulled a permit or eaten a callback. So we built something different: a space run by someone who spent 35 years in the trade, for people living it right now.

What you get here

This isn’t a feed to scroll. Instead, it’s a set of tools you’ll actually use:

Built by a lifer

Randy Castricone started as a helper, slinging pookie on ductwork. Then he ran service calls, earned his license, and spent 18 years owning a shop. After that he worked the manufacturer side, so he’s seen this business from every angle.

That matters here. Because when this HVAC technician community talks about labor shortages or equipment costs, it isn’t theory. It’s lived experience. You can read the whole story if you want the long version.

What we won’t do

Plenty of trade sites will print whatever an advertiser wants. We won’t. So we talk honestly about pay transparency, about private equity roll-ups, and about what those changes mean for the person holding the gauges.

Sometimes that costs us. But a community that only says comfortable things isn’t worth joining. And roughly 50,000 people across the trade follow us because they’d rather hear it straight.

Who belongs here

Techs and apprentices. Also contractors, owners, CSRs, dispatchers, and installers. Distributors and manufacturers who actually listen. If HVAC runs in your blood, then you’re already family.

We’re expanding into plumbing and electrical too, because the same problems hit every trade. Meanwhile, the trade itself is short more than 100,000 technicians, and the projections keep getting worse. So the work of pulling this community together matters more every year.
