Burnt smell from vents the first time the heat came on this season – should I be scared?

  First cold day, turned the heat on for the first time since spring. Got a strong burnt smell from all the vents for about 15-20 minutes, then it went away. Smoke detector didn’t go off.
  
  Is this normal? Or do I need to shut it off?
